René Dennis has been studying piano since the age of seven. At the age of 17, Ms. Dennis enrolled at the University of the North Carolina School of the Arts where she received her high school diploma as well as her Bachelor of Music degree. Upon her graduation, Ms. Dennis moved to NYC to further pursue her interest in music. She received her Master of the Arts From NYU where she studied under Dierdre O’Donohue. Her teachers have included Gregory Haimovsky, Esther Lamneck, and Irina Morozova. Ms. Dennis accompanies extensively and has performed at the Kaufman Center in Manhattan, Queens College (CPSM), and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (with the Chorale). She has also accompanied numerous musical theater productions. Other solo and collaborative performances have included Bargemusic, the National Opera Center, Le Poission Rouge, Union Hall, WFMU, and Bowery Ballroom. Her collaborations have included classical chamber music, four-hands repertoire, new music, and local indie band performances on the farfisa.
Ms. Dennis has been teaching in the NYC area for over 15 years, with students ranging from age 4 to 70, and has successfully prepared students for NYSSMA, school auditions, and studio recitals. With a focus on musicality and finding creative ways to practice, she believes that lessons are a collaborative effort and tailors her teaching to each student. She is comfortable teaching both classical and popular repertoire and hopes to instill a lifelong love of music in her students.
